CPR Systems FAQ
What does CPR Systems make?
Closed-loop metal pretreatment equipment: spray wand pretreatment systems, single-step stage washers and wash booths. They clean and conversion-coat steel and aluminum before powder coating, then filter the iron phosphate or zirconium chemistry so it is reused instead of discharged or hauled.
What is single-step pretreatment?
A cleaner/coater cleans the part and applies the conversion coating in one stage, followed by the rinse and seal your spec calls for. See 3, 5 and 7-stage washers explained.
Should I run iron phosphate or zirconium?
It depends on your substrates, your customer's spec, heat and sludge handling. See iron phosphate vs. zirconium.
Can a CPR system meet Caterpillar requirements?
CPR systems run CAT 1E4093 approved chemistry with a phosphate wash, rinse and seal sequence, and reclaim that chemistry in the loop.
Will it meet my customer's spec?
We start with the spec or test protocol you must meet and size the system backward from it. We'll clean sample panels for free so you can run your own adhesion and corrosion tests.
Do I need a wastewater discharge permit?
If your washer has a phosphate or zirconium stage and drains to a sewer, it falls under EPA's Metal Finishing Effluent Guidelines (40 CFR Part 433) and your local sewer authority's permit program. A closed loop removes the wash water discharge; some agencies still ask you to document zero-discharge status. See the EPA rules guide and state guides for Texas, South Carolina, California, Pennsylvania and North Carolina.
What happens to the wash water?
The wash bay captures it, filtration removes solids and oils, and the clean solution returns to the wand or washer. Only filter waste leaves the building.
How much will I save?
It depends on your hauling, water, sewer and chemistry costs. Use the savings calculator or request a quote.
Where are CPR systems running?
Mexico, Canada, Japan and all across the US, including Texas, South Carolina, California, Pennsylvania and North Carolina; each state guide lists install cities.
